Local Hyperthermia

Local hyperthermia is carried out with so-
called applicators, which are applied to a tumor accessible from the outside. Special care must be taken, that the
concerned area is sufficiently reached by the applicator.

Applicators are antennas which are fed by an
amplifier and radiate electromagnetic waves (microwaves or radiowaves). Between the applicator and the tumor,
a preliminary water stretch for the coupling, the so-called water bolus, must be positioned at any rate.
