Skin cancer respectively malign melanoma
The malign melanoma respectively the black skin cancer causes the biggest problem of all typs of skin cancer.
First of all, it is treated by surgery. If after such an operation a new growth occcurs locally, or if metastases are growing in the surrounding area, there exist different treatment concepts.
It was also proven that radiotherapy combined with local hyperthermia is an efficient treatment. Therefore, all centers which have a local hyperthermia at their disposition offer such a treatment concept for the malign melamoma. This treatment can only be carried out, however, provided that the tumor(s) can easily be reached with the available applicators (antennas) and be sufficiently heated (LHT- malign melanoma).
In case of a metastasizing malign melanoma, i.e. if new growths occur, a treatment concept with chemotherapy and whole-body hyperthermia has been developed (WBHT-malign melanoma).
