Head-cervix tumors

Carcinomas in the head-cervix area are treated at an early stage by surgery. If a resection is not possible any more or if it causes unacceptible mutilation, a radio-chemotherapy can be carried out. These kind of carcinomas normally are not accessible for a local hyperthermia.

Lymph node metastases in the cervix area, however, can be reached by local hyperthermia. It is especially these focusses that sometimes do not respond well to conventional therapy. This is why a local hyperthermia is offered by the centers in question in order to intensify the treatment of these tumors (LHT-cervix tumor). Already in an earlier research, it was possible to prove that local hyperthermia can increase the effect of radiotherapy on such cervix lymph node metastases. Such a treatment concept can therefore also be carried out without the framework of a study protocol.
