Brain tumors respectively gliobastomae

The treatment of the most malign of all brain tumors, the gliobastoma, is extremely difficult. Even after an operation and subsequent radiation (sometimes with additional chemotherapy), the results of the treatment are not satisfying. There exists a whole range of experimental therapy approaches trying to increase the local (i.e. restricted) efficiency of the so far established therapies.

Although the use of hyperthermia suggests itself as means to increase the therapy effect, it is very difficult from the technical vuepoint to introduce the engergy into the scull cap. Nevertheless some centers are working on the development of a procedure for the hyperthermia of brain tumors. These techniques are so-called interstitial techniques (i.e. a radiation from inside) with microwave antennas or special magnetic particles (nano particles). In a study carried out in the USA, the increased efficiency of radiotherapy combined with interstitial hyperthermia has already been proven. The application of this therapy is very difficult, however, and is restricted to specialized centers.

We regret that at the moment we cannot offer any established procedure or an ongoing study for the hyperthermia of braintumors.
