Dear Colleagues,
It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 23rd ESHO
meeting in Berlin from the 25th to the 27th of May,
2006. The German capital is a lively city that offers a
wide variety of cultural events, intellectual distractions
and other activities. You can enjoy outdoor recreation
at the numerous parks, as well as on Berlin’s lakes
and water courses. Potsdam, capital of the German
state of Brandenburg and most important residence
of the Prussian dynasty, is only 25 km from the
center of Berlin.
The conference will take place on the "Campus
Virchow Klinikum", one of four locations of the
"Charité Universitätsmedizin" of Berlin, Europe’s
largest University Clinic.
Due to the great success at the previous "ESHO"
meeting, the congress will once again begin with an
"Educational Day", scheduled for May 24th, 2006.
International and national experts, specialized in
various fields of oncology, will provide a variety of
state-of-the-art lectures, covering recent advances in
diagnosis and treatment of some of the most relevant
malignant diseases (e.g. breast cancer and other gynaecological
malignancies, gastrointestinal and pelvic
tumors, soft-tissue sarcomas). Each educational session
will be supplemented by a lecture on the role of
hyperthermia in the given context.
In order to broaden the "biology" contributions to our
meeting and open new perspectives in the translational
research related to thermal stress we will parallely
host the “IIIrd international symposium on HSP
in biology and medicine”, which will be held in the
same facility from the 23rd to the 25th of May 2005.
The conference itself will provide insights into the
current results in the different fields of hyperthermic
oncology. Special emphasis will be given to the
topics "Thermometry and Monitoring", "Multimodal
Treatment Concepts", and "Preclinical and
Concomitant Research".
We are looking forward to the interesting and
exciting scientific presentations and fertile
discussions in a friendly atmosphere, and are
enthusiastic to welcome you in Berlin.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee and the ESHO
